The City of Perth was experiencing record growth in terms of inner-city living, development and industry, servicing 100,000 daily visitors in addition to its 13,000 inner-city residents. The public transport infrastructure in and around the city needed further upgrading to ensure fast and efficient service for commuters.
To improve efficiency, and reduce travel times for buses. Improvements were made at the central bus depot with the installation of the OMNIGRIP CST coloured pavement surface to provide safe and vivid colour delineation for bus transit movement in and about the central city bus port.
Installed by Antiskid Industries, the OMNIGRIP CST system was applied to the dual carriageway at the new city bus depot on Riverside Drive. The application provided higher visual delineation markings for both buses and priority vehicles with crosses at the busy intersection of William Street following on to clearly identify the bus only route along both the north and south bound entrance ramps on the Kwinana Freeway.
